| Having never met Elaine, I was asked me to pick out what I felt would be "THE right boy" for her, based on her specifications in all areas, including "maximum drive". While I saw lots of potential in several pups, I did NOT want to disappoint ... and this lady had VERY high goals ... and, again, wanted "maximum drive"!! There are certainly no guarantees in the dog-world, but, with several great boys to choose from, I felt I had chosen the dog who could 'fit the bill' ... ... my yellow collar boy, "OZ". I flew to Texas with Oz, knowing he would pass the scrutiny of beng evaluated by all who would be involved, (trainers, handlers, and his potential new mom). He did, of course! There was a bright future for Oz in Texas ~ a mom who loves him, and a team of great trainers, competitors, and friends ... ... several of whom STILL keep in touch with me regularly ~ telling me everything they know about Oz's life that week! Like many of his littermates, Oz showed "total Doberman" potential from the start ~ appropriately bred to the standard in height, structure and temperament. He is forgiving and bold; eager to learn; thrives on positive reactions he brings to everyone; never has a bad day, oozes confidence, and exudes CHARISMA! In the competitive Texas circuits, his first weekend out, Oz took multiple Reserve Winners Dog honors, from the 6-9 mo class, handled by Nikki McLendon, (Merrimac). After taking a short break, Oz trained with Rick & Linda George (Horizon), then, hit the show ring seriously in March of 2008, when he was a year old. At just 22 months, (January '09), Oz crossed the "FINISH" line ~ just 10 mos from first win to Finish. Linda & Rick were a SUPER team for Oz: Linda did a fabulous job of training and presenting Oz ~ Rick kept him in peak condition & even handled Oz to multiple Best of Winners; Rick & Oz also obtained an AKC Canine Good Citizen Certificate. Handled by Kathy Babbitt, Oz garnered his IABCA Championship in one weekend with Multiple Best In Show Bred By Exhibitor Puppy, Multi Reserve Best Puppy in Shows & a Best In Show Puppy honor. Oz & Elaine have garnered 2 Qualifying Rally Novice scores and are nearling the completion of the RN title !!! Oz trains weekly in Agility & Obedience ~ and we believe, if he is given the room he needs to be "OZ", has the right training, partner, and room for fun ... ... he WILL be VERY successful ~ he was placed to become a MACH OTCH Register of Merit dog! This dog is "wonderful", and again, like his many littermates ... simply does NOT disappoint. Welcome to the team, Sandra Shaner ... ... Oz's new Tracking coach, trainer, and handler. |
