Under the  Miss ~ eltoe
The ongoing photo journal of Katoba Dobermans' 2009 "Miss & Mister" Litter   ~   DPCA Futurity Nominated for 2010
It is the day before Christmas Eve and things are starting to get back to normal. There is NOT a "non-gauging" contractor available until the first of the year, so it
looks like I am going to play Bob-the-Builder the weekend after Christmas, while Todd is at work. It just cannot wait any longer than that ...
I  just can't wait any longer
than that. The floor has dried out and kennels are going back up. The backyard cleanup is taking longer than I expected, but it will get there. The pups started their
day with what i call "small group" playtime. These are the three pups who I am still contemplating homes for. They are so much fun and so incredibly smart. When
they come back into the house they each know exactly who goes where. They all know basic commands, they look and come running to their names, and will do
ANYTHING for a treat (like grama - like mom - like baby). They LOVE to play outdoors but really want me to be out with them alot - GREAT ... at least I know they are
not "pack dogs" ...which can happen when there is more dog to dog play than dog to master play. I have so much fun with them ... I think Todd may be lonesome :).
When we were done playing today, everybody went to "their rooms" for quiet time while I let Soleil came upstairs for a bit ... I was finishing some paperwork and she
crawled up onto the sofa with me. She curled up as close as possible and with her head pointed up staring at me, she fell asleep for her 30 minute morning nap. And
when she woke up ... she was UP. RAN to the back door to go outside for a potty and announced to the entire neighborhood that she was "QUEEN of the UNIVERSE"
... followed by Zzzen having to "join" in the announcement. Today was a great day for the babes. And, oh, how is Breeze? PERFECT - it's just hard for me to talk
about her not living with me forever ... she climbs into the heart and holds on tight - the girliest, sweetest bitch in my house ... the "super model" is an absolute peach.
Slowly but surely - with patience and diligence, things are coming back together in the "dog room". Above, are the three girls on one side of the room. In addition to the
giant box of tennis balls, Santa is bringing each of the dogs new beds for Christmas ... right now they are on fluffy, folded Costco blankets. .Erica demanded the
"window" run. Breeze is closest to the stairs and likes to be able to see if I happen to walk by. Violet is in the middle because she is a "jumper" and I had to put a cover
on her run. She can be in standing position and simply jump over the top of the pen. For her safety, I HAD to cover it with extra pen sections. It looks awful, but is for her
safety. She stood tall and pushed on it once ... (above), she realized she could not jump out she literally dropped her ears & stomped her foot. It was PERFECT timing. :)
My girls ... they make me melt. They are so different - in type, in personality, in appearance. They have it ALL ... and I love them so dearly.
By late afternoon the sun had died down and it was getting quite cold again. The puppies all went out for their third round of daily play. I did quite a bit of training with
them today, and since Todd is on a 36 hours shift, there are not many photos. Ears got wet today, so they were unwrapped AGAIN this evening. They will enjoy an
unwrapped rest overnight ... then, on to the Breath Rite Strips tomorrow. I LOVE their ears. Soleil appears to have the longest and most elegant crop, Mischief &
Breeze are close seconds. Thank gawd we did not leave the ENTIRE length or there would be no barking ... just a loud "HeeHaw". Erica had less ear lenght to begin
with so she has her full length. Violet had less leather length as well but are still longer than Erica's. All are beautifully cropped - fancy and befitting of their head
structures, following the contours of the ears anatomical curvature. I am very impressed with the presentation. Erica's gorgeous heead reminds me SO much of her
sire, (see below) ... regal, intense, sculpted  ... but she is obviously more feminine-pretty. Violet has always been such a photogenic girl (that is VIolet in the top corner
photo at just a few days of age) and her dreamy eyes melt the heart of the manliest men and looks alot like her dam as a pup (see below)  :).

Every evening I pick one or two pups who gets to
come up to the living room to have a few hours of
alone time with me/us and the big dogs when
everyone is "ready for bed". Tonight it was Breeze's
turn ... and she took full advantage.
After time with Tyler, she had some play with Misty
and Echo. She was in puppy heaven running
around and dragging the big girls "woobies" around
the room. Then she came over to the sofa, climbed
up and snuggled with me - THIS is my FAVORITE
time with each of them. ALL of my dogs are all
VERY "cuddly" ... I attribute this to the rearing
beginning at whelp.
"Mommy, can I PLEASE come up there with you?"
"Let's get one thing straight ... that is YOUR
dance space and this is MY dance space."
"I know ... you can't resist me, right?
"I knew it I knew it I knew it!"
"Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer"
Breeze watched intently.
"No, don't do it ... don't hide his nose ..."
Breeze snuggled so well that I fell asleep on the sofa with her.
We slept there all night.
Awesome.
