Since the puppies are not truly 'into' the nesting thing, they decided it would be great fun to spread the stuffing around the yard - thank God they are not fuzz eaters (not that I have experienced as of yet anyway). The ONLY fun I saw in it is that it made it APPEAR more snow-covered in the back yard. It IS quite a mess, though, and it REALLY needs to be cleaned up soon ... but for now, I am going to let them enjoy the fake snow while I tend to other things in getting back some order here! While I HATE to have dogs in crates, sometimes it is TEMPORARILY necessary. That said, the hate-it-with-a-passion-tile has dried up enough to begin using the downstairs again. I do not want to set up all of the kennels again just yet though ... we are still waiting on a contractor, (which, if it doesn't happen soon may turn out to be ME), to fix the laundry room walls where the pipe burst; and I have to have a new washer and dryer brought it as mine are no longer usable ... and I would have to clear all the kennels pout to make room for all of that in and out. So, I plan to set the crates up downstairs, so they can either be playing OR resting in the same room, and be close to the door when they need to go out. The big kids can then be OUT of their crates, upstairs, and be main-streamed back in to normal household living ... what a concept :) ... that is, with the exception of 'male rotations'. Still praying about that. I will be off to "Spin City" (laundry-mat), today, to clean and dry up some of what I am left with .. and it sounds like there won't be a new Washer/dryer delivered until later in the week. The salesman has informed me that they are very busy this time of year - not only replacing machines that have been ruined by water damage ... ... BUT... and REALLY think about this for a minute: They are delivering Christmas presents from husbands to wives ... yes ... WASHERS, DRYERS, DISHWASHERS, etc. Okay, well, maybe it is just me ... but, after recieveing a microwave oven from Todd one year (so that I could make HIM popcorn at night - hmmmmmm), I was quick to thank him and THEN "established gift ground rules". This happened early on in our relationship ... that an appliance or ANY other "thing" that creates unwanted housework, is in any way going to make me feel obligated to DO more housework, or is anyway PART OF housework is simply NOT an appropriate "CHRISTMAS gift. Nor a birthday gift ... nor a Valentine's gift ... you get my point. Those are "household necessities" and should be treated as such. SO ... men, (yes it IS a sexist statement) ... I BEG of you ... re-think the "appliances-for-Christmas-idea". SOund crazy to you??? To each his/her own ... but I have not received anything but GREAT gifts from Todd since then - thank you baby! How does this realte to the dogs ... well, would you buy them a pooper-scooper for Christmas? I would not :) On to the rest of the photos ....... they are poor, as well, since the battery had only gotten worse at this point ... nevertheless, it is fun to watch them play.
This morning, I had hoped to awake to a foot of snow ... instead, there was just a sprinkling. Nevertheless, the puppies made the best of it and figured out that there was also a layer of ice to run and slide on ... AND ... we all discovered that early this morning (the usual 4:20am), Uncle Cahill had taken a dog bed outside and made his OWN snow out of the stuffing, I swear, that boy MUST have been a bird in a previous life ... he LOVES to make "nests" - anywhere anytime). It was a chilly morning outside - only 36 degrees ... not cold enough to snow but still cold enough to keep the slushy-yuck frozen. I took these photos from inside the breakfast room window. I later realized my battery was dieing so this mornings photos are all poor quality ... oops.
Zzzen, Soleil & Erica are Line Dancing ... ... Violet ~ not so much
Just a sprinkling ... ... so much for my dreams of 'a foot of snow' last night !
I could resist them no longer ... I put on my shoes and literally went out in my nightgown and coat to play with them. It was sloshy and gross, but they are too great to ignore. I know they wont all be with my for too much longer, so I am trying to soak up every moment I can. THIS was a slushy but fun few moments. It appeared to be dropping in temperature as the ground was freezing up again.
Below, everybody decides to enjoy "Uncle Cahill's nesting ground"
Suffice it to say ... these all start looking the same after awhile ... ... I mean, how many ways can you show tug-wrestle-play, anyway ?!? It does my heart good, though, to see them be able to move about the house more ... they have been "rotated" outside and into crates for a couple days & that is ALL I could handle seeing of them in crates. I do NOT recommend allowing your dogs/pups to play on slippery floors such as tile like this - it can cause serious injury and they can become cowhocked very easily. I will have rugs and dog beds down asap.
