Under the  Miss ~ eltoe
The ongoing photo journal of Katoba Dobermans' 2009 "Miss & Mister" Litter   ~   DPCA Futurity Nominated for 2010
This being the third litter under the Katoba prefix, I have noted some consistency in each litter ... one being the "stages" of growth and change.
This litter presented with consistency across the board, since birth ... and to date, none have "lost themselves".
With both of the previous litters, and this one alike, the "fourth month" seems to be the most ... well ... "stagey".
Each of my litters has become overweight and a bit 'gauky' for a week or two during this time, although each in this litter remains consistent to underlying structure.
They are teething like crazy and all have lovely big permanent teeth coming in. We think they each have all their teeth, except Soleil who's missing a lower incisor.
The Doberman Pinscher Standard calls for 42 correctly placed teeth ... but, then specifies a disqualifying fault of 4 or more missing teeth.
Those two sentences considered, it shows just another area of our Standard that invites subjective judging, when "objectivity" should be key,
even though the Doberman Pinscher Standard is one of the most detailed - with movement, topline/croup, specific angulation measurements, etc., all included.
Frustration lies within the breeders trying to breed to the Standard vs. those people breeding to what they would like to see
become the Standard.
Off the soap box now ...
It has been biting cold and hard to get them to stack or work outside on a lead for me at home ... but, that is what the training center is for, right ?!?!?!!!
The pups are growing like weeks these days ... all being right around 40+ pounds.
I am pleased with my decision to keep both Erica and Violet ... I got everything I hoped for ... in two separate packages.
They are both lovely, both move beautifully, and both different in type, color, AND personality ... they should be a LOT of fun.
In my quest to share the "entire journey", not just the good parts :),
I'm posting the 'less-than-stellar' 16 week stack photos of the pups ... fat rolls, belly bumps, battle wounds ... & all.
