All the puppies fell in love with Sarah to one degree or another ... and in turn, what dog-loving-girl doesn't fall in love with a passle-of-puppies?? It was going to be a fun - and possibly difficult - experience, choosing just the right puppy for Sarah. She had to watch me tape and re-tape ears all day; clean up after the puppies, feed the puppies, train with the puppies, play with the puppies, etc. We took pups with us to the training center ... two of them would baffle Sarah all day. The play time was full and Sarah was so torn. Violet is awesome ... but, Violet is staying with me. Soleil had bounced back so beautifully, yet Soleil and Sarah just didn't "click" totally. Zzzen adored Sara and she was smitten with him, but her other dog is a male ... and why invite trouble!?!?! Erica caught Sarah's eye weeks ago, but Erica just did not want to work for Sarah ... and besides - I still may keep my lovely redhead. Mischief loved Sarah - but Mischief already has a mommy, (we did not want her to feel left out though). Breeze, the beauty queen, was melting in Sarah's arms and did quite well for Sarah with a bit of lead work, as well as stacking. Rhyme, the ever-fun, ever-silly girl showed Sarah just how the go-around is supposed to be done with great head's up attention. The stacks ... I stacked them ALL for Sarah to see, and evaluate with her 'wanting-to-learn' eyes. Then I had Sarah stack them herself so she could "feel" each of them.
Funny, sweet, endearing, and a dog lover through and through. Sarah was involved n 4H as a youngster; she was a Junior handler until she aged-out, working with a few well-known professional handlers of several breeds; she even helped to finish (put BOTH Majors on her), a Doberman bitch, (CH Manarjj N Gra-lemor Hi-Heel Doozie, "Sitka"), who went on to be in the Top 20. Currently, Sarah shares her life with a Smooth Fox Terrier, (Raybill's X-Box, "Boxer"), that she is currently training in Rally. After more than a year away from the show ring, Sarah is a new member of Team Katoba. She will assist with the puppies at the shows, and has an even bigger 'star in her eye'. Sarah arrived at "Camp Katoba" last night to meet the brood ... from which she hopes to be taking home her first owner-handler show dog. Which puppy, though? ... we were not certain yet. After a decent night's sleep, we awoke to a full day of dog "stuff". The puppies played and Sarah watched and observed ...

And then ... Sarah jumped into the mix ... and I watched the puppies play with - and ON - Sarah :) She didn't mind the wind ... or the rain ... or the dirt ... or the puppy spit. They knocked her down, they chewed on her hair, they covered her jeans in paw prints ... Sarah appeared to love every minute of it. I watched ... and observed ... and studied each of them with Sarah ... and I watched to see who Sarah seemed drawn to & who was drawn to her. Poor girl ... nothing quite as uncomfortable as feeling like you're in a fish bowl, right?!? Funny, though, Sarah did not seem to mind - just wanted to get to know the puppies.
Yes, that's right ... Katoba's Miss Congeniality ~ "Breeze" vs. Katoba's Miss Muffet ~ "Rhyme"
Sarah thinks the entire litter is beautiful ... and I totally support that opinion :) She narrowed it to two girls and begged me to choose for her. While I felt I knew which one was "right", I remained tight-lipped. Sarah begged me to choose the puppy she should have, like I did for everyone else ... but, I felt certain she would pick the right one. Sarah she had been with them solidly and intensely for more than 24 hours, studying the individualities of each. We both thought Breeze and Rhyme would be the best to consider ... I felt BOTH girls would be great for her, but in different ways. I told her I would not choose, so the day turned into this quest: "Which Bitch?" This was Sarah's dilemna:
Soleil
Zzzen
Violet
Breeze
