Sunday did not work out so that ALL of the "Pelton Family" to come and pick up their not-so-little little boy; and, Soleil's mom & dad live just 10 minutes from my front door, so ... ... I found an extra 2 hours on Friday, (tomorrow), to give them a tearful send off. It is perfect timing for Louis as the rest of the crew has officially pulled off his helmet so he gets a new one tonight; Soleil will get a reinforcement on hers as well ... and they will both have toenails dremelled - that is, IF I can CATCH Soleil ... ... Yellow was the perfect collar color for her ~ she is also like a streak of lightening! Then on Sunday, I will sadly see Braun pull out of the driveway with Dave & Margret. Will is coming to see Rhyme on Friday, so she may also be waving at me out the "crate window" on Sunday. Oh, the heartache of good-byes!
The Adventures of the Tree
Because of the appearance of this tree, Todd and i have always called it the "Tim Burton Tree". Laugh if you will, but if you could see it in full view, you would agree! This tree has been a pivotal piece of the last two litters' entertainment. They play and tug on the branches, jump off the rock ledge in ambush of the litter-mates, tightrope-walk around the ridges, play 'ring around the pine-tree', and dig in the rabbit hole in the roots of the tree base ... and ... there is a LOT of digging :). It is hard - with the new crappy camera - to get good action shots ... and it is so disappointing ... I MUST have a better camera soon so i don't miss too much more. Nevertheless, I will forever remember the many "Adventures of the Tree".
Dave, Clare, Tammy and Frank .... sleep well tonight ... it may be your last one for awhile - hahahaha! While I believe they have been prepared for the separation from the pack, just know it will be a big change for them ... they will to play on their terms, get to investigate at their pace, and be supported and loved the entire time - they will make NO mistakes, as evverything is new and they cannot be in trouble for ANYTHING they do not know about! They will need low to no added stress, calm surroundings, and ONLY confidence building experiences. When it is time, ONE person take them out - yes, GO WITH THEM ... make sure they go out frewuently, let them pick their own spot, do not rush them, and have a potty party EVERY time they go!!! They will need to potty before they go to bed, the MINUTE the wake up, before they eat, right after they eat, before play time, right after they have played, and about evey 20 minutes in between :). They are potty trained here, but they know MY door, my house, my potty party sounds, etc. They will need to learn about your house and your sounds. If you want it to work - do it right from the beginning. If they potty in the house, it is YOUR fault for not watching the signs, or for rushing, or for waiting too long, or for making the potty area too far away :) Give it time. New puppies are wonderful and silly and cute and, and, and ... but remember, for awhile, they are much more "work" than "fun". They are not toys, and do not get put in a box when you don't want to play with them. And while on the subject of toys ... JOSH & Sara ~ I know your room are clean in neat - I am very proud of you for that ... ... it show how much you want Louis to be safe, not being able to reach the toys he could choke on !! Keep the toys that are NOT dangerous out of his reach as well, because you would be sad if Louis ruined them - even if he was just trying to play. Louis will need to have his own toys also ... and remember, his crate is his private space and you should not play in it. By knowing this, maybe this will help Louis to respect your private stuff too - it will take time and patience. Just love him as he learns!! So Tammy and Frank ... your girl is also perfect and does no wrong ... keep that in mind and life with a new puppy will be a piece of cake. hehehehehe They all are loaded with confidence, but that can be easily broken if they are not treated fairly and with patience and understanding. These two are no different. They shine with personality and playfulness, they would not deliberately do anything wrong ... and if they do not understand a concept, and right now they don't understand ANYTHING - (ha), they cannot be reprimanded for it. They just need love and an admiration for their experiencing the big world that awaits them. They will all continue to blossom in knowledge and bring you many wonderful memories. Words of wisdom: while trying to keep up with the organization, scheduling, structure, training and nurturing of it all ... ... don;t forget to enjoy the amazing spirit that lives within each of your Dobermans ~ they are priceless. So .....Pelton's and Russo's ~ tomorrow is your big day ... don't forget your cameras & your crates ... and your $20.00 check for the American Kennel Club.
Just spoke with Braun's daddy, David ... they have decided that sooner is better than later as well ... ... they are itching to come and get their baby boy tomorrow as well. So, there you have it ... tomorrow is as follows: Pelton's at 3pm Russo's at 4pm Truax's at 5pm Depression at 6pm
