| The "Divine Nine" are only 25 days of age ... ... but I simply could not stand it any longer. That desire to SEE what the pups may be looking like "stacked" was more than I could take. I can see their angles relaxed; I can watch how they are moving, (albeit they have only just begun to 'motate'); and I recognize bone substance and head potential. That said, I couldn't stand the waiting anymore. With the last litter, I waited until they were about 5 weeks old and then had Cathy Ceely do the first stack training day. They usually don't look like much until they reach about 8-10 weeks, but a breeder can get some ideas VERY early on, and see if their observations are correct to that point, and start teaching the pups what the table stack is all about. This litter is only half way to that point ... but, the "curiosity is killing this cat". So I am going to try toi "see" something in my 3 week old babies. Tomorrow I want to get photos of the first attempts to stack the puppies. Reality says this will be nearly impossible as their teeth are just poking through the surface of their gums; they have limited balance on all fours; and they have just been introduced to pablum. This should be a riot - especially since stacking does require the ability to "bait" the dogs with food. I will be riding on the virtues of ground sirloin, patience ~ and prayer. Hopefully that should do it :) |
| I have not yet decided which girl I am going to keep - I love each for so many reasons. I was hoping for a red girl for myself - now I will be the proud co-owner of 2 deliciously cute red girlies!! Light Blue collar Black girl, Red collar red girl, and pink collar black girl have not been assigned specific names thus far - it will depend on the placement decisions I make in the next 1-2 weeks. At that time, the names will be as follows: Katoba's Miss Muffet, "RHYME" Katoba's Miss Behaving "MISCHIEF" and Katoba's Miss Congeniality "BREEZE" One of the future homes 'claimed' the name Katoba's Miss Behaving "Mischief" from the beginning. I will know in the 10 days or so, just "who" will be "who". Many of the puppies are spoken for. I am still waiting to find just the right homes for two show bitches - - ones that will also be dedicated to giving their little girls a 'job', (obedience, agility, etc), once the 'beauty pageants' have been won. Other than that ... I look forward to seeing how the weekly stack photos show their growth and developmental changes ~ these stacks may not look like much to the untrained eye, but we see BRIGHT conformation futures in most them. Their personalities remain as they were from the beginning - with more layers to each every day. In addition to the beauty, I am loving their fun fearlessness, curiosity, playfulness with not just each other ... but people of all ages. The bold determination and drive coupled with confidence and awareness - gives each some valuable aspects to be treasured as "show" dogs - whether in conformation ring OR in performance venues. Each pup has specific traits that presented early on and have remained. And, oh, how I appreciate consistency & predictability! Later this week: more guests; assigned names, chicken backs, eating out & in; mini-agility equipment; outdoors & exposure to grass and concrete; continued work; the and ... the last "daily" photo-journal entry. |
